| I got tired of the OEM stereo's failing operation and wanted something more compatable with different formats. I didn't want anything outragious, just something affordable and to reduce as much need for fabrication as possible. Car: 1993 TT Auto with Bose system AM/FM Radio/CD player. This is the harness which provides the connection to the speakers and amps in each speaker housing. The same harness and color code is used in all speakers, front and back.
I went with 5.5" speakers in the doors and 6.5" speakers in the rear. For size comparison, here are the rear speakers.
As you can see, my Z being a 93' has the triangle shaped rear speakers. To fix this problem I used the top half of speaker boxes from a 90' Z. The 6.5 speakers drop right in and match perfectly to the mounting holes.
Top halfs of the 93" rear speaker boxes. I decided to swap just the top halfs of the boxes in the 93' (I was trying to keep as much of the original box in the car as I could:). The top halfs swap perfectly. The inside of the lower half of the newer boxes have the same design as the lower halfs of the 90' boxes. This lets you install the two screws which are located inside and under the speaker to properly attach the old top half to the newer bottom.

For the doors I used modular board and cut out just what was needed to hold the speakers.

After removing the amps you can jump the wires needed to provide a direct path to the speakers. I used 12ga household electrical wire. Its single conductor, sturdy and fits perfectly for a jumper.
Here is a harness with jumpers installed.
After removing both radio and CD player I filled the empty slot with a cup holder which I got from a junked Nissan 200sx. It fits perfectly to the original radio mounting brackets. Until I fab a plate to fill the half-height hole left by the half-height cup holder I filled it with I piece of grey packing foam.

Sorry I didn't take any other pictures, like the speakers mounted. I was in a hurry to get it back together. I also stored everything neatly away so it may be included when and if I sell the car.
